This is an on-going class for yoga students with chronic or complex conditions that prevent them from participating in a general class. Some examples are joint pain or dysfunction, heart or blood pressure conditions, cancer and recovery from surgeries that require modifications beyond the scope of a general class. Yoga therapeutic methods are based on principles of yoga, scientific data, and the experience of Yoga teachers, and they are not, as yet considered standard treatments in mainstream medicine or physical therapy.

To be considered for the course, students must fill out an online application and be willing to commit to eight consecutive weeks of class.
What to Expect
At your first session, you will meet with the instructors for an interview. Initially, you will be given a personalized sequence which instructors will guide you through. As you progress, you will practice your given sequence with instructor oversight. Adjustments and modifications will be made as required, as well as adding and/or changing the sequence as needed. At the conclusion of 8 weeks, you will be given priority to register for another session.

Certified at the Senior I level, Jito began her studies of Iyengar Yoga in the early 80s. She has made several trips to study with the Iyengar family in India, for which she is ever grateful and inspired.
Jito observed and later assisted in the medical classes in Pune, observing the therapeutic application of Iyengar yoga. Observing the Iyengar family help people by offering them hope for their conditions inspired her to learn more about the healing benefits of practice. In the States she studies with Manouso Manos and completed a three year Iyengar Yoga Therapeutic training in 2017. She continues to study yoga therapeutics with Manouso. She has been teaching Iyengar yoga locally and continuously since the mid 80s as well as conducting Teacher Training and mentoring students for certification. She is grateful for the assistance of Naomi in this therapeutic class.
Naomi Hiller Reynolds
Certified at the Junior Intermediate II level, Naomi has studied Iyengar yoga since 1988. With over 25 years of teaching experience, she has extensive experience teaching students with various physical, mental and neurological disorders. Naomi developed instructional manuals and training seminars for the NMSS (National Multiple Sclerosis Society) and taught yoga teachers and health care providers nationally in yoga techniques to benefit people with neurological dysfunction and limited mobility. In 2018, she will complete the three year IYT (Iyengar Yoga Therapeutic) training taught by Manouso Manos and other senior teachers. Additional training includes graduating IYISF teacher training (1995) and MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) Teacher Training at El Camino Hospital in Mt View, CA (2010). “My goal is to help each student learn yoga to understand their bodies and how to move them, thus bringing health and happiness to the whole individual.”
