About the Workshop

Yoga, as taught in the Iyengar tradition allows a student to progress safely regardless of the initial condition of stiffness and weakness towards greater suppleness and strength. The systematic approach begins by working first with the outermost layers of the body and progressing towards deepening awareness within. Inherent in the method is an understanding of the progression of learning from the surface towards the core. The art of sequencing in the Iyengar method is to progressively build a language of actions in the body and mind.

In this three day workshop with Marla we will be practicing a different category of poses in each class to follow this progression of learning and action. Through this way of working we will gain a deeper understanding of the poses.

Marla enjoys and is capable of teaching mixed levels as she did at Yoga Fitness last Spring so the format will be appropriate for beginners as well as advanced students and teachers. Marla will seek to establish clarity in the basic actions which are inherent in the more challenging practices. To our present individual capacities we can each deepen our understanding of the poses and lay the foundation for further self study.
